Zonta Club of Hong Kong SAY NO TO VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN

According to the World Health Organizaton (WHO), 30% of women worldwide have been subjected to either physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence or no-partner sexual violence in their life time. Newly reported cases of intimate partner violence and sexual violence in Hong Kong amount to 2601 cases and 674 cases respectively. These figures, however, according to WHO, are under reported.

Nora Leung President of Zonta Club of Hong Kong said, “Since Zonta International first launched the Zonta Says No (ZSN) Campaign in 2012, it has become an annual event echoed through all Zonta clubs globally in our efforts to eradicate violence against women and gender inequality.”

As early as 2012, the advocacy campaign (Zonta says NO- ZSN) was launched globally, to raise awareness of women’s rights violations and has united Zonta clubs worldwide in conducting impactful advocacy actions to fight violence against women and gender inequality. This year, the Zonta Club of Hong Kong reaffirms its commitment to eradicate violence against women by launching their new Advocacy & Service project V4V, and a series of activities in November.

We believe that safe homes and safe families are the foundation of a safe society.

Zonta Club of Hong Kong “Say No to Violence” project 2021-2022: “V4V”

Continuing the ZSN message in action, the Zonta Club of Hong Kong will partner with the “Tung Wah Group of Hospitals CEASE Crisis Centre” on the “Say NO to Violence Project” entitled “V4V” (Victims for Victims). The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals CEASE Crisis Centre has been providing crisis intervention and support services, serving victims of sexual violence, individuals or families encountering intimate partner violence or family crisis. The comprehensive support services include 24-hour hotline service, outreaching service, and short-term accommodation service. Since over 80% of these victims are women in the working age range, it is essential that they are given the care, support and training to re-enter the workforce.

The “V4V” project is designed to provide after-care service and continuous support to female survivors, to pave their way to re-enter the society. The project will be implemented in 3 stages:

Stage 1: Workshops and post trauma therapy sessions focused on establishing and restoring control over trauma symptoms.

Stage 2: Skill Training to manage trauma reactions.

Stage 3: Work skill training & internship opportunities as Peer Counsellors in the Crisis Centre.

Through proper training and internship during the transition period from rehabilitation to recovery, the project aims to empower the victims/survivors to carry on independent living, and to find new meaning in their lives through integration into their work and the society.

1. 2021年11月19日由香港大學崇德青年社主辦的性別平等講座及電影之夜;

2. 2021年11月20日「小安小寧的故事」YouTube視頻首播,提倡預防少女懷孕。視頻由香港崇德社原創及製作,並獲香港家庭計劃指導會及聖保祿學校崇德社支持;

3. 在聖士提反書院成立多個崇德社委員會,並於儀式期間開展宣傳活動;

4. 2021年 11月 27日與香港聖公會麥理浩夫人中心使用者現場分享 YouTube 健康視頻;

5. 在2021年 11 月 30 日的「崇德說不」 活動中,會員參與製作宣傳海報和視頻;

6. 2021年12月4日在香港家庭福利會舉辦燈籠製作與家庭和諧工作坊;

7. 參加 2021年12月9日由新加坡崇德社主辦的「崇德說不」網絡研討會:「選擇的力量」;
