For the biennium 2022-2024, the Advocacy Committee of the Zonta Club of Hong Kong has put key thematic priority on the advocacy of education for sustainable development as a response to the urgent challenges facing our planet. Our Club has collaborated with the research team led by Professor Winnie So Wing Mui of the Education University of Hong Kong to carry out the research study on “Climate Change Education at the Elementary School Level.”
Taking action to address climate change has become an urgent necessity. The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that “climate change is the greatest threat to global health in the 21st century”. In response to this pressing call, Zonta Club of Hong Kong is dedicated to combating climate change and firmly believes that engaging younger children is crucial in safeguarding the future of our planet, their mother earth.
Therefore, Zonta Club of Hong Kong – Advocacy Committee has initiated a video competition “I can make a difference to Climate Change” to encourage children to demonstrate their unique perspectives on addressing climate change, and to inspire and empower them to become the next generation of climate change advocates. Through unity, we hope to make a lasting impact in the effort on climate change and protect the precious gift of our mother earth for our children and their children.
