To advocate on Climate Justice by addressing the root cause of climate conflicts, which was simulated in the project by theatrical presentation, in order to enhance participants’ experiences. Educational debriefing sessions engage participants to raise awareness, support sustainable actions and empower themselves to participate in shaping solutions. The project focuses on gender inequalities as exacerbated by climate change, recognizes the disproportionate impacts on the female gender and advocates for women’s rights, needs, and participation in decision-making processes for improvement works.
The project takes the form of experiential simulation theatre, which uses theatrical storytelling, sensory effects and interactive simulations to transport participants into different scenarios of climate conflicts. Each session allows for 15 to 30 participants to immerse in the theatrical experience for 90 minutes, interacting with trained actors who guide them through emotionally charged scenarios enhanced by synchronized lighting and sound. Educational narratives are woven into the script, highlighting gender inequalities in the effects of climate change, calling for climate justice actions. Upon exiting from the theatre, Hong Kong Red Cross educators continue with a debriefing session to help participants process the experience and exchange ideas of exploring ways to advocate for change. The theatrical sessions run from March to September 2025, 4 sessions each day, reaching out to different sectors, including families from our club beneficiaries, Z and Golden Z members, as well as the general public. This project has reached 3,910 no. of beneficiaries overall.
